I visited your site and was intrigued by your story about your Cyclone GT. I was 19 years old when I purchased a used cherry condition 1971 Cyclone GT with 41k miles in 1975. It was white exterior color with black vinyl top and black interior. I purchased it for $1,500 at the time and I had good and bad memories of it. In fact, it saved the lives of 5 people including myself when I was driving it in summer of 1975. I had done a few exterior modifications with it, replaced the stock rims with after market mags and placed a sunroof, new cassette deck, etc. It was also repainted to metallic black color. Anyway, going back to the life saving story, I had a car load of female passengers (4), including my girlfriend and myself driving home from a college dance on the freeway (after 1:30 am). A car load of youths fired 2 handguns while driving on the far left lane of the freeway. I was on the second left lane and heard gun shots and saw flashes on the left
side. Broken glasses splatters all over me and swerved away from the vehicle where the shots were coming from. Luckily, I was able to control my car and exited out of freeway as one of passenger screams to go to an exit. I thought someone was shot and to find out that no one was hurt except for minor glass cuts. To this date I still could not understand why someone will shoot us. Jealously or what I don't know...
My brother in law who happened to be a gun collector inspected my car with many bullet holes, 3 windows shattered. etc. He said that they used a 44 and a 357 caliber based on the holes and slug we found inside the driver's door. I think the car's thick sheet of metal that struck near the door handle saved me from getting hit and it wasn't time for anyone of us to leave earth if you know what I mean.
Anyway, I will try to find my old photos of my Cyclone Gt in the near future. Also, I am in the market for a 1971 Cyclone GT to bring back those memories. Like I said it was good luck and sturdy sheet metal that I am still alive to this date.

I came across your Cyclone page and was surprised when I read the story
from Mr. Herrera. I, too had a white Cyclone GT with a black vinyl top
and interior--for 2 weeks. I don't think I have ever seen another one
like mine.
My '70 Cyclone was bought in the spring of '74 to replace an ailing
'61 Falcon. Two weeks later I took it to the local Ford dealer to have
an oil leak fixed. A mechanic took it out for a test drive. On the way
back to the shop he stopped a red light but the dump truck behind him
didn't. The Cyclone was pushed through the intersection into 2 other
cars. The mechanic received minor injuries but the car was totalled. I
received more from the insurance than I paid for the car. I replaced
the Cyclone with low mileage black '70 Torino GT which was saw about
200,000 miles and was eventually traded for a new piece of junk '85
Cutlass.
The Torino was a great car, but the Cyclone GT was something unique.
Your website shows a model of a '70 Cyclone GT. I think I have 2 or 3
of them in storage somewhere.
Enjoyed your website.

I got my CYCLONE from my brother, he got it from the original owner in 1974,
I bought it in 1978, but I went in to the army in 1980.I got out in 1983 and started to drive the Cyclone again up to 1985.
I then joined the navy, I just retired and now I'm going to restore my 1970 Cyclone Spoiler. That is my story.
